TAKIN' OVER THE ASYLUM MUSIC VIDEO

This video is by Maggi137 at YouTube. It features clips from BBC Scotland's 1994 six part series "Takin' Over the Asylum". David plays a manic-depressive (bi-polar) patient in a mental hospital. He sings in it and has a pretty good voice. Get a load of that hair!

The music is a catchy tune called "The Lunatics are Taking Over the Asylum" by Fun Boy Three.

BUM ALERT: Watch for the shot of David's bum at 01:28. :-D

DAVID IS THE INTERVIEWER IN TODAY'S "CHAIN REACTION"

David Tennant tries his hand at interviewing as he poses the questions to fellow Scottish actor Richard Wilson in part two of the tag-team talk show series. David asks Richard about his gruesome time in National Service, champagne socialism, and overcoming his shyness to become an actor.

DOCTOR WHO TAINTED LOVE VIDEO

This is an awesome "Doctor Who" video made by boulettesud at YouTube. The song is "Tainted Love" by Marilyn Manson.

I've never heard Marilyn Manson's version of this song before, but I like it. It fits the video very well.

Enjoy!

TENNENT TO READ "WHO" AUDIO ADVENTURE

Friday, February 22 2008, 15:55 GMT
By Simon Reynolds

David Tennant will read Doctor Who: Pest Control, the latest audio adventure from BBC Audiobooks.

Pest Control will be available on CD and for download only and won't be published in book form.

The audiobook is written by author Peter Anghelides.

"I'm simply thrilled that he's reading this special audio. He phoned to discuss the characterisations, and my younger son picked up. How great is that? A phone call from the Doctor!" said Anghelides.

The story is the first to feature Catherine Tate's Donna as the Doctor's sidekick.

Tennant has previosly read Who audiobooks The Feast of the Drowned, The Resurrection Casket and The Stone Rose.

Doctor Who: Pest Control is due for release on May 8.

I've never had the chance to listen to any of the Doctor Who audiobooks. This gives me something else to look for David Tennant related.

Between Doctor Who, Hamlet, Love's Labour's Lost, videos for charity, radio plays, radio interviews and audiobooks (Have I missed anything?), David is quite busy. No wonder he stays so thin.

CHAIN REACTION REVIEW

Radio review

Elisabeth Mahoney
The Guardian, Friday February 22 2008

So wildly enthusiastic was the audience response on Chain Reaction (Radio 4), you did rather wonder what the production team had been handing out before recording. But it had nothing to do with strong drink or free money. The extensive approbation was due to there being a doctor in the house: Doctor Who. "What a shame," said interviewer Catherine Tate to David Tennant as the crowd whooped, "they don't like you."

It was the first of many gags in a lively, likable encounter. Thanks to Tate's quirky interview technique - shout at your subject, insult them, tease them, anything for a laugh - it wasn't revelatory about Tennant as an actor, but it was very funny. I liked Tennant sending up Tate's interest in astrology ("because of the hour I was born, I've got Gemini in my back pocket") and her lampooning of his liking for all things intergalactic.

Tate's disdain for spacey matters came out as she admitted having never seen a Star Wars film ("there's more than one?" she cried in horror), though she did love Space Dust as a child. "It was the most exciting thing I thought I'd ever put in my mouth," she said with a ripe old cackle.

This was at The Guardian.

I listened to the show. It was very entertaining. David and Catherine get along very well with one another. It's a fantastic show! You can listen to it here while it's still available.

DAVID IS INTERVIEWED ON "CHAIN REACTION" TOMORROW

21 February - 13 March 2008
Thursday 6.30 - 7pm

The Radio 4 talk show with a twist returns. Catherine Tate takes the host's chair as she talks to David Tennant

Chain Reaction gives the audience two entertainers for the price of one on a series that is spontaneous, revealing and very funny. Dispensing with the formality of a regular host, last week’s interviewee become this week’s interviewer instead. It is tag-team interviewing with some of the brightest stars of the entertainment field.

Recorded in front of an audience, this fourth series is a four parter, with some of the biggest names from the world of entertainment interviewing others whose work they appreciate and admire. The interviews focused on the life, career and the passions of the interviewee but often proved to be as revealing about the interviewer.

Each interviewer has a different style and each pairing has its own unique rapport; a simple idea for a highly entertaining series.

Programme 1 of 4

The talk show with a twist begins with Catherine Tate playing host to interview - or mercilessly tease David Tennant about growing up a science fiction fan, his love of acting and his success as Dr. Who.

This sounds like a fun show to listen to! And, we get two weeks of David since he will be interviewing someone on the next show. I wonder who. Personally, I'd like to hear him interview John Simm.

Please note that the broadcast time given is GMT. Adjust the time as need be for your area. In the US, that means it's broadcast at 1:30PM ET, 12:30PM CT, 11:30AM MT and 10:30AM PT. Check out your time here.

DAVID SAYS "ASTROLOGY IS NONSENSE"

Tuesday, February 19 2008, 09:46 GMT
By Alex Fletcher, Entertainment Reporter

Doctor Who star David Tennant has claimed that astrology is "absolute nonsense".

The actor added that if he could place anything inside Room 101, astrology would be the first thing on his list.

Speaking on Radio 4's Chain Reaction, Tennant said: "There are get-out clauses everywhere you go. If nothing comes of the predictions, you conveniently forget about it.

"And the one day of the year you do meet a tall dark stranger you say, 'You see, Mystic Meg was right'. It's absolute nonsense.

"Were I to do Room 101, astrology would be top of the list."

By the way, David is an Aries.

DITTO WANTS TO MEET DAVID TENNANT

Monday, February 18 2008, 12:49 GMT

By Simon Reynolds

Beth Ditto is hoping to run into Doctor Who actor David Tennant when the pair attend this week's Brit Awards ceremony, reports the Daily Star.

The 26-year-old Gossip singer is designing her own outfit for the night and is looking forward to running into the current Doctor.

An insider told the paper: "Both Beth and David are due to attend the annual event as presenters.

"When she heard that her favourite actor would be going, Beth seemed thrilled. She said she was looking forward to a good old chat with him as she loves him playing Doctor Who.

"And Beth has even been swotting up on her research of the Time Lord as she hopes to impress him. Beth has also vowed to wear something 'kinky' for the event and is designing her gear herself."

The singer is also planning to meet up with her showbiz pals Kate Moss and Kelly Osbourne at the Earls Court ceremony.

I don't know who she is, but she sounds to be as much of a fan as me. Although, I don't know if I'd wear something 'kinky' to meet him. LOL

I found this at Digital Spy.

FREEMA AGYEMAN HAS NICE WORDS ABOUT DAVID

There's a nice article about Freema Agyeman at sundaymail.co.uk. It seems she is going to be in "Torchwood" as Martha Jones along with her return to "Doctor Who" for the finale of Series 4. Besides Captain Jack Harkness, she'll be another nice tie-in between the two shows. I wonder how quickly Captain Jack will start flirting with her.....probably right away. (By the way, I love Captain Jack!)

Freema has some nice words to say about David. In her words, she is "close to her co-star Tennant, who helped her get the role by making her relax at her screen test."

I wonder what it was David did or said that helped make her relax.

DAVID IS A PRESENTER AT THE 2008 BRIT AWARDS

The lowdown on the Brit Awards this week

BRIt AWARDS 2008 with MasterCard

17/02/2008

The Brits Awards 2008 is live on ITV1 at 8pm this Wednesday. Performers will include Kylie Minogue, Kaiser Chiefs, Leona Lewis, Mark Ronson with Adele, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna with The Klaxons and Mika. Presenters include David Tennant, Michelle Ryan and Beth Ditto.

Jack Osbourne has been persuaded by his mum to present an award. It will be the first time all four of The Osbournes - Kelly, Jack, Sharon and Ozzy - have appeared in public together since their reality TV show ended.

The theme is 70s Glam v Punk - just like Kate Moss's recent birthday - even when it comes to food with guests getting smoked salmon mousse with dill cream to start. The main is shepherd's pie and lamb and desert is trifle and cheesecake.

I'm gonna be watching for someone to upload this on YouTube.

NINE 1/2 MINUTES (2002)

This is a very strange short film which has a couple meeting on a blind date and having a whole relationship (from meeting to breaking up) in 9 1/2 minutes. David plays Charlie and Zoe Telford plays Heather.

Sorry about the video being out of sync with the sound. This is the best quality I've been able to find without it being so small you can hardly see the picture. If I could find a free program (since I'm not rich)for downloading asx files, I could possibly get better quality from downloading off of the BBC's website. If you want to see it in sync, click on the link and watch the itsy bitsy video on their website.

DOCTOR WHO SERIES 4 NEWS

Who’s next for the Doctor?

DOCTOR WHO series four leaves hapless assistant Donna racing round the stratosphere alone when the Timelord goes missing.

Donna – played by Catherine Tate – fears for the Doctor’s life when he mysteriously disappears and draws support from an unlikely source.

Former assistants Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Sarah Jane Smith and Captain Jack all rush to her aid.

The fearless foursome then scour the universe in search of the Doctor – battling a whole host of alien life-force.

Strange species in the new series include the return of squid-faced slave-race The Ood, plus a mysterious hooded being and dangerous flying beasts.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom – the fourth series even sees the Doctor try his hand at romance when he shares a shock smooch with Donna.

Elsewhere, Sarah Lancashire leads an epic cast of guest stars as evil Miss Foster.

And there’s a shock in store when actress Georgia Moffett – whose real-life dad is former Doctor Who Peter Davison – claims to be the Timelord’s daughter.

The new BBC1 series begins in the spring and also features cameos by stars including Felicity Kendal, Lesley Sharp, Lindsey Coulson, and Tim McInnerny.

This article is dated February 11, 2008 and is at The Sun.

DAVID SUGGESTED KISSING KYLIE

David Tennant got to snog Kylie after he kicked up fuss

06/02/2008

Doctor Who star David Tennant has admitted his sizzling Christmas snog with Kylie was only added to the show after he kicked up a fuss.

The actor, single after splitting from Sophia Myles last October, admits that he was overcome with joy at the prospect of getting intimate with the pop princess.

He gushes: "Getting Kylie on the show left me with stars in my eyes. I suggested the kiss, I might add. It wasn't in the script but I wasn't missing that for anything."

You naughty boy!

You can find this article at mirror.co.uk.

I wonder if he means both kisses. After all, she kisses him first then he kisses her later.

DAVID FEATURED IN RADIO TIMES

David is featured in the latest issue of the Radio Times which goes behind the scenes of last months Covers Party.

They have a quick chat with him:

On the RT Party:
"It's great to see everyone - plus I was on five covers, so that's a really nice thing. But I can't party too hard - I'm back on set in Cardiff tomorrow at 7am.."

On Doctor Who:
"We're still working on the new series, but then I've got the whole of May off. I start rehearsals for Hamlet in Stratford-Upon-Avon in June, and I'm doing that from July until 9 January next year - on 10 January I'm back to Cardiff to start making the 2009 Doctor Who Specials. And after that I don't know. Nothing has been decided...honestly!"

On landing a film role:
"It's not something I'm thinking about. My aspirations don't really go beyond the next thing I'm doing. Besides I don't want to disappoint myself. But I would love to have been in a Robert Altman or Hitchcock film. Actually, there's a thought for Doctor Who - but who would you get to play Hitchcock?

I found this at david-tennant.com

It sounds like he's really going to need the whole month off to rest up for his busy "Hamlet" schedule. Don't forget, he's also going to be in "Love's Labour's Lost" during part of the time he's doing Hamlet.

DOCTOR WHO HAS A DAUGHTER?

The Timelord is apparently set to get a huge shock when Doctor Who returns this spring - when he discovers he's a dad.

The Doctor, played by 36-year-old David Tennant, is left stunned after he lands on Earth and learns he has a daughter, reports the Daily Star.

But, as with all the sci-fi hit's best storylines, there's a twist and the Doctor finds out the girl has been made by aliens, who sneakily took some of his DNA without him knowing.

The Timelord's daughter is apparently played by 23-year-old Georgia Moffett, who also happens to be the real life daughter of former Doctor Who star Peter Davison, 56.

A source was quoted as saying: "It's an amazing signing!"

More incredible storylines have apparently been concocted for the new series, including a showdown with the Daleks and their evil creator Davros.

Meanwhile, Catherine Tate is set to reprise her role as Donna, the runaway bride, and will star as The Doctor's companion throughout the new series.

This story is at thisisnottingham.co.uk.

Wow! How cool to have Peter Davison's daughter playing the Doctor's daughter! This sounds great!!!

SCI FI CHANNEL TO BROADCAST SEASON FOUR OF "DOCTOR WHO"

'Doctor Who' Season Four, 'Sarah Jane' Travel to Sci Fi

More British sci fi adventures come to America

February 4, 2008

The Doctor is in and he has a new companion.

The Sci Fi Channel has acquired the fourth season of "Doctor Who" and its new spinoff "The Sarah Jane Adventures" from BBC America to premiere in April 2008.

David Tennant will reprise his role as the tenth Timelord for this fourth season of "Doctor Who" and he's joined by Donna Noble, the runaway bride from the Christmas special the previous season played by Catherine Tate. Former companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) will return in the middle of the season.

"Sarah Jane," which is written and produced by the same creative team behind the good doctor, centers on one of the Doctor's previous companions. Her years traveling the universe with him makes her particularly equipped to handle alien encounters, mysteries and dangers with the help of her new young friends Maria, Luke and Clyde.

"We are excited to have 'Doctor Who' back on Sci Fi for its fourth season," said Chris Regina, Vice President of Programming, Sci Fi Channel. "It's an exciting franchise that continues to reinvent itself for new generations of viewers. The youthful appeal of 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' will no doubt attract even younger new viewers."

Candace Carlisle, EVP Sales and Co-productions, BBC Worldwide Americas added, "The imagination of Russell and the rest of the production team in Cardiff who have produced these two incredible shows is outstanding. We are so pleased that the loyal fans of the Sci Fi Channel will be able to meet a whole new range of characters and aliens that are intrinsically linked to the Doctor's history. Both 'Sarah Jane Adventures' and the new season of 'Doctor Who' are jam-packed with some of the most creative storylines ever produced by the BBC's brilliant team."

"Doctor Who" is the longest-running science fiction TV series to date and was revived recently starring Christopher Eccleston ("Heroes") as the ninth incarnation of the Doctor. Tennant replaced him beginning with the second season and has since enjoyed solid viewership with the series on Sci Fi.

This story is at zap2it.com.

I can hardly wait till April gets here!!!

A DRAMARAMA CLIP

Thanks to an anonymous comment on my Dramarama post dated February 2, 2008, I have a clip of David at 16 years old in the "Dramarama" episode titled "The Secret of Croftmore" that originally aired on August 8, 1988. It's too bad I can't find the whole episode. This is better than nothing, though. It's very, very short, but you can tell he was destined to become an accomplished actor.

DOCTOR WHO: VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED (DECEMBER 25, 2007)

Thanks to BUMCHEESEUNITED for uploading this. It's best to watch it online since we won't get the full version in the US. Everything shown on SciFi and BBC America is cut down.

Now, about the episode. The theme music is a bit rocked up. They didn't need to change it, but I like the new version. I wonder if all of next season's theme is like this or if it's just for this episode. I can't see them going to all the trouble of changing it for just one episode.

The Titanic is fantastic! Great graphics! It's just beautiful to look at. If it weren't called the Titanic, I'd like to take a voyage on it.....especially with the Doctor. OK. I'd really like to be on it even though it is the Titanic.....because it would be with the Doctor. I'm such a Whovian!

I like the story. It's a lot like a disaster movie with the Doctor in it. Who better to come to the rescue! And, like any disaster movie, not everyone survives. I won't tell who lives and who dies. That would just spoil it for you.

Kylie Minogue is very good as Astrid Peth. She made me like Astrid quite a lot. Her character is very feminine and very strong at the same time. She's the kind of woman who fits well with the Doctor. Kylie fit David very well too. They have a nice chemistry together on screen. It makes me want to see more of the Doctor with Astrid. But, will that happen? Watch and see.

A QUIZ night and charity auction at Frome Rugby Club raised £135 for the Crimestoppers charity.

Also included in the auction last week were signed photographs of Liberty X, Ben Mills, Eton Road, Liz McClarnon and Lisa Scott Lee.

There were also three autographed photos of David Jason, best know as Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses and a signed script from the BBC series Casualty.

Other stars who donated lots included Michael Caine, Gary Lineker and Dr Who stars David Tennant and Catherine Tate.

This story is at the Wiltshire Times.

I wonder what he donated. Maybe an autographed script or picture?

DAVID IN "DRAMARAMA" 20 YEARS AGO

Who was on Arran 20 years ago
Published: 01 February, 2008

Spotted on the Banner’s Twenty Years Ago page this week was a 16-year-old David Tennant who has discovered mega stardom playing Doctor Who in the BBC’s sci-fi programme.

On February 3 and 4, 1988, David and two other young actors were being filmed just south of Whiting Bay by STV.

The production was a short play for children called The Secret of Croftmore by James Graham for STV’s Dramarama series.

All the interior shots had already been taken in the studio and the exteriors were all shot on the Wednesday and Thursday on Arran.

David has always said he decided to become an actor after watching Doctor Who as a child.

This was at The Arran Banner.

I have been looking for this show, but have never found it. I would love to see him acting at the age of 16.

BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS (2003)

These are clips from the movie "Bright Young Things" featuring David. I've never seen this movie and don't know anything about it. I'm going to have to look for it.

I prefer the moustache over the beard he had in "Recovery", but I still like him clean shaven the best.
