GUEST HOSTING "THE FRIDAY NIGHT PROJECT" ON JANUARY 5, 2007

This show is the UK equivalent of "Saturday Night Live".....only a bit more risqué. It features David as the guest host and Amy Winehouse as the musical guest. David does a short monologue at the beginning, takes some audience questions, co-anchors their version of the news, and participates in various comedy sketches. He is absolutely marvelous throughout the show. He looks like he's having a lot of fun and seems to be very relaxed. He is a natural at comedy. In fact, his comedic talents are fantastic. David also looks very handsome.

If you haven't noticed it yet, the picture in the header for my blog is a screencap from this show. It's one of my favorite pictures of him. He looks so sexy. I can only dream about finding him looking so fetching on my bed.

DAVID WON'T BE IN ONE "DOCTOR WHO" EPISODE?

Doctor replaced by Rose & co

BBC bosses are so confident in Doctor Who that they are making an episode without him in it.

Instead, the Time Lord’s three female assistants – Rose, Martha and Donna – take the starring roles.

The shock twist comes after the Doctor, played by David Tennant, gets lost in space.

His faithful sidekicks – played by Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate – are left to take control of the Tardis as they battle to save the world from an alien invasion.

An insider on the show’s top-secret Cardiff set said: “The chemistry between the three assistants is electric. It is so strong that we realised the doctor could be in danger of getting in the way.

“So it is left to the girls to sort things out, having to save civilisation and the Doctor himself.”

Gamble

Former assistants Billie, 25, and Freema, 28, will team up with the Doctor’s new companion Catherine, 39, for the one-off episode towards the end of the next series. It will be screened in March.

The insider added: “It is a bit of a gamble having Doctor Who without the Doctor – it has never been done before. But everyone is so interested in the different assistants that it should be fantastic.

“Donna, Martha and Rose are all competing for his attention in different ways and all want to be the best.

“But the question will be, can they work together?”

The Beeb are hoping for huge viewing figures for series four after the Christmas Special featuring Kylie Minogue pulled in 12.2million viewers.

But Tennant’s future remains uncertain. He is expected to quit after filming this series and three more specials. He recently said bosses had yet to offer him a new contract.

There usually is one episode a year that has very little of the Doctor....."Love and Monsters"and "Blink" being two of them. I never thought an episode would be made entirely without him. I'm thinking maybe he'll be in the very beginning and the very end.

My hopes of seeing the Doctor and Rose together again have been somewhat dashed after reading this and after hearing David say (in some interview I had seen somewhere) he hadn't done any scenes with Billie Piper. I have been so looking forward to a few Doctor/Rose scenes. I've been wanting to see how they react to seeing one another again. Darn, now I'm depressed.

GRAHAM NORTON SHOW (MARCH 29, 2007)

I love Graham Norton! He's such a naughty boy. That's what makes him so appealing. It's always a delight to watch his show no matter who the guests are.

What makes this Graham Norton Show extra special is a guest appearance by David. Of course, since the Doctor is there, Graham has to have a gag involving the TARDIS. It just wouldn't be right without it.

David also lets us in on some behavior we wouldn't suspect him doing. It seems he, along with John Barrowman, like to fart while filming "Doctor Who". Evidently, they get competitive about it. He said Freema Agyeman doesn't particularly like this, which just spurs him on.

The other guests are the very funny Jo Brand and The Proclaimers. The Proclaimers is one of David's favorite groups. They sing "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)".

It's a fun show and well worth watching. Of course, I think any show with David is worth watching.

THE TIME LORD IN A REASONABLY PRICED CAR

The original broadcast date for this "Top Gear" episode is December 23,2007. This isn't the entire episode. It's just the segment where David is featured as the "star in a reasonably priced car".

This is such a joy to watch. David is so cute and charming during his interview with Jeremy. The video from inside the car is wonderfully funny.

Enjoy!

YOU MUST SEE "RECOVERY"

In this fine UK movie originally broadcast on February 25, 2007, we find David playing a man whose life and personality are forever changed as the result of a brain injury. David's portrayal of this character is extraordinary! He has that vacant look in his eyes like someone brain damaged would have. He really did his homework on what happens to someone who has had a massive brain injury.

I can't get over how different he is in this movie compared to the other roles I've seen him play. There isn't a trace of the Doctor in him. He truly is an amazing actor! His acting blew me away! He really deserves an award for this.

Sarah Parish is also amazing as David's wife. It's so easy to feel empathy for her trying to hold it all together amidst the huge change in her life. It's like she's lost the man she fell in love with even though he's still alive. All of a sudden, she has another child to care for in place of the man she married. It's almost like there is no longer a father there for their two sons. Her struggle to cope with all this is so real.

This movie has nudity, but it isn't gratuitous. We see David's bum a few times. (Always a plus!) There's also a bit of backside nudity with Sarah Parish. The only thing involving anything sexual is not really seen. It's mentioned that David's character is masterbating in the shower, but we only see him above the waste.

The story is well told and all the acting is superb. Whether you're a David Tennant fan or a Sarah Parish fan or not a fan of anyone in the movie, this movie is a MUST SEE!!!

EVEN MORE ABOUT "VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED"

I'm 903 years old

Friday, December 21 2007, 12:37 GMT
By Neil Wilkes, Editor

Here are ten things I can tell you about the Doctor Who Christmas special, 'Voyage of the Damned':

1. This isn't the regular sunk-in-1912 Titanic. It's a vessel named Titanic from the planet Stow, which is taking a tourist excursion to Earth. The purpose is for its passengers to observe "primitive lifeforms".

2. The theme tune has undergone a bit of a revamp for the Christmas special. It's rockier!

3. Legendary actor Clive Swift (Keeping Up Appearances) plays Mr. Copper, a tour guide who claims to have a degree in "Earthonomics".

4. As we all know, Kylie plays 'Astrid Peth', a waitress on board the ship who strikes up an immediate friendship with the Doctor. She's actually rather good! Don't read as much into her name as some of you have been doing, though.

5. Mr. Copper's degree in Earthonomics may not have been from the most reputable establishment. Among some of the facts he tells his tour party: humans worship Santa and his wife Mary, and every Christmas the UK goes to war with Turkey and eats its people.

6. Will Kylie be the new assistant? "Can I come with you?" she asks. The Doc's reply: "Yeah, I'd like that." But surely there can't be another assistant...?

7. Like its namesake, the spaceship Titanic has a doomed future. Gabriel would not be proud.

8. There is a special homage to one of the nation's greatest Christmas Day traditions.

9. Some random quotes:

"That's eight of them now on the blink"
"My name is Max."
"Any day now they start boxing."
"Information: You are all going to die."
"I don't half love you."
"She's ****d***"
"I travel alone. It's best that way."

10. As is customary, the end credits include a preview of the next series:

* The Doctor holds out his hand from the TARDIS as it snows. "Come with me," he says. It's Donna!

* Martha looks helpless as she is kept back by guards.

* The Ood are back. One is chained up, another holds a ball and tells Donna he does not understand.

* Sarah Lancashire, holding a red and white pill, announces: "This is the spark of life."

I think "primitive lifeforms" is a good description of us humans at times. LOL

TEN THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT DAVID TENNANT

Tuesday, December 25 2007, 06:00 GMT
By Beth Hilton

It's been a whirlwind ride for David Tennant since he crash landed on our screens as the tenth Doctor in 2005. Almost from the first time the theatre regular stepped into the Tardis, he's been showered with accolades of all shapes and sizes for his cheeky take on the role. He's been named the coolest character on TV, the most powerful actor and the sexiest man in the universe, not to mention Doctor Who's best ever leading man. But what does the nation's favourite extraterrestrial get up to when he's not wise-cracking his way through time and space? As he prepares to save the world again in the show's Christmas Special, we dish up ten fascinating facts about the Time Lord's most dashing alter-ego.

1. David was born David John McDonald in 1971 in West Lothian, Scotland. His father was a Presbyterian minister and is now a member of the Scottish cabinet.

2. David was barely out of nappies when he decided to become an actor. He recalls: "I was very small, about 3 or 4 I think, and just wanted to be the people on telly telling these wonderful stories. Obviously the idea grew and matured with me but I can't ever remember wanting to do anything else."

3. David was so crazy about Doctor Who as a child that he had a Tom Baker doll, made his gran knit him a multi-coloured scarf and once wrote a school essay declaring that he would one day play the role.

4. David is a huge fan of Madonna. The first single he bought was 'Like A Virgin' and he credits the Queen of pop with kick-starting his sexual awakening at the age of 13. Oo-er!

5. David took his pseudonym from Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant after finding that another actor shared his real name. He explains: "I was on the bus looking through Smash Hits and I saw Neil Tennant. I thought it would be a good name as it's got a good number of consonants in it." Well, it's as sensible a reason as any!

6. David once lodged with Arabella Weir from The Fast Show and is godfather to her youngest child. He says of the experience: "She probably corrupted me, but I probably needed corrupting a little bit."

7. David received such a scathing review playing King Arthur on stage in only his second job that it made him weep. The critic wrote: "The cast of 18 are uniformly excellent with the exception of David Tennant, who lacks any charm or ability whatsoever." No doubt that nasty man is eating his words now.

8. David counts McDonald's restaurants, astrology, Cliff Richard and the Conservative party among his biggest dislikes. On the other hand, he adores Honeynut Shredded Wheat, Alfred Hitchcock, The West Wing and The Proclaimers.

9. David has auditioned no fewer than six times for a part in Scottish detective drama Taggart, with no success. Maybe it's worth giving it one more shot, Dave!

10. David held farting contests with John Barrowman on the Doctor Who set. After finding out that Freema Agyeman was less than keen on the practice, they began "saving them up" and waiting until she walked past to "thunder one out". Charming!

I don't know if all that is true, but I know some of it is. The article was at Digital Spy.

DAVID'S BOOTS AD

I thought I'd post a Christmas ad of David's since it's Christmas. It's from 2002. David is so cute in this!

Have a Merry Christmas!!!

MORE ABOUT "VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED"

Doctor Who

BBC1, 6.50pm

24/12/2007

Kylie Minogue puckers up with the Doctor in this ultra action-packed drama.

And it's a corker. Even with the future of the Earth at stake, there's still plenty of the Doctor's joky humour, some nice Christmas gags and even a touching romance.

At the end of the last series we saw the Doctor (David Tennant) looking more than a little startled as the Titanic came crashing through the walls of the Tardis.

Ah, but now it turns out that it isn't THAT Titanic.

This one's an intergalactic luxury cruise ship offering jaunts to primitive worlds, including Earth, and is named after our most famous liner.

As he didn't have any other plans for Christmas, the Doctor hops aboard where he immediately makes a big impression on a waitress called Astrid (Kylie), who asks him: "Do you travel a lot?"

Forget icebergs, this Titanic is hit by a meteor shower that decimates the passenger list. In this disaster movie in space, a band of scary robotic angels seem hell-bent on finishing off the few survivors (who include Bernard Cribbins and Gray O'Brien, aka Tony from Corrie).

If you've got young children watching be warned that the death and destruction rate is alarmingly high. And much as we'd love to see Astrid as the Doctor's next companion, nobody is safe.

Why, oh why, couldn't I have been born in the UK. I'm just dying to see this.

DAVID ALMOST SPEECHLESS

23rd December 2007
By Ciaran Hannah

DOCTOR Who boss Russell T. Davies has sparked a storm after suggesting Adolf Hitler would have been perfect for the leading role.

The producer and writer has been credited with being the saviour of Saturday night telly on BBC1 after recreating the sci-fi show.

But the straight-talking 44-year-old stunned an audience of fans – including young children – when he suggested Nazi leader Hitler would be his ideal person to play the Timelord.

Asked who from the past or present he would most have liked to see play the role, he replied: “Hitler. He was stern and strong. He would be great.”

Russell was speaking after a preview screening of the show’s Christmas special, Doctor Who: Voyage Of The Damned.

The answer was meant to be a joke, which did spark a small amount of laughter from some of the audience. But others were horrified, thinking the gag had been in bad taste.

One disgruntled fan said: “He may have said it tongue in cheek but there are some things you just don’t joke about.

“Hilter carried out some of the world’s worst atrocities. He ordered the killing of millions of innocent people and I don’t want my kids thinking Hitler and Doctor Who are in any way the same.”

Even current Doctor Who David Tennant, 36, seemed slightly stunned by Russell’s answer. And when he was asked the same question, he seemed almost speechless as he declined to answer.

The BBC was unavailable for comment. It is not the first time Russell has sparked controversy. In 1999 right-wing groups tried to ban his controversial Channel 4 drama Queer As Folk due to its explicit and graphic sexual content.

He is regarded as one of the top TV writers and producers in Britain. And in May 2007 the Independent on Sunday Pink List named him the most influential gay person in Britain.

Following the Christmas Day special, a 13-part series will kick off in the spring.

Speaking about the series, Russell said: “Billie Piper is coming back but that’s towards the end of the next series.

“At the beginning of the next series we’ve got Catherine Tate coming back as Donna. She’s in all 13 episodes.

“The meeting of Catherine Tate and David Tennant is one of the most glorious things we’ve ever filmed.

“Last time she was offered a chance to go round in the Tardis she turned it down, so it’s interesting to see what has changed.”

Poor David! Russell is his boss and Hitler is a very touchy subject with a lot of people. Talk about being caught in the middle. It sounds like he handled it pretty well.

Russell needs to think more before he speaks. I don't even see where this answer is the slightest bit funny.

I found this article at Daily Star Sunday.

DAVID (AND BILLIE PIPER) ARE ON THE UK LIST OF WHAT TO WATCH THIS CHRISTMAS

Next week is when it all happens. It's Christmas. Christmas. Christmas. Christmas. We all get excited then come out of the other side moaning that there was nothing on telly. It's always the same. Except, there are always good programmes on... you just have to look for them in among the repeats, the soaps and the rubbish.

And, dear readers, this is where we come in. We've trawled the schedules to find you the best bits. The bits that will make you laugh, cry, think and leave you feeling that television – yes, television – will be able to cure all the world's ills. Well, at least cure a hangover and bad bout of sprout-induced wind. Read on over the jump for the Top 10 Christmas programmes you cannot afford to miss.

1. Doctor Who – The Voyage Of The Damned, BBC One, Tuesday 25th December, 6.40pm
We've been looking forward to this for ages – a Titanic-style spaceship, Kylie, some evil angels and David Tennant looking rather cool and suave in a suit. Having watched the trailer, looks a bit like intergalactic Die Hard to me. Not to be missed.

2. Extras Christmas Special, BBC One, Thursday 27th December, 9pm
Another one that has stirred all and sundry, the Extras Christmas Special will be Gervais and Merchant on top form, with another slew of celebrity cameos. Clive Owen, George Michael, David Tennant and Gordon Ramsay are all down to appear, but it's more about what happens to Andy, Darren and the lovely Maggie.

3. The Shadow In The North, BBC One, Sunday 30th December, 8.55pm
So good was last year's adaptation of Philip Pullman's The Ruby In The Smoke, I cannot wait for this year's installment. Billie Piper is the perfect Sally Lockhart, and this year she takes on a Scandinavian villain and his super-weapon.

4. The Old Curiosity Shop, ITV1, Wednesday 26th December, 8pm
Another Dickens adaptation, but that's fine by us. An all-star cast (isn't there always when it comes to Dickens?), including Sir Derek Jacobi, star this two-hour Victorian grime-fest.

5. Richard Hammond Meets Evil Knievel, BBC Two, Sunday 23rd December, 9pm
Sadly, Evil died a short while back, so this could be his last ever TV interview. The ever-likeable Richard Hammond, meets his boyhood hero, chats about some of his greatest stunts and finds out what makes the great man tick.

6. When Joseph Met Maria, BBC One, Monday 24th December, 7pm
A one-off extravaganza featuring the winners of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? and Any Dream Will Do is a bit of a dream ticket – yes, that means a duet between Lee and Connie and more Marias and Josephs than you shake a technicoloured dreamcoat at.

7. Christmas At The Riviera, ITV1, Monday 24th December, 9pm
A good-looking cast (Reece Sheersmith, Warren Clarke, Anna Chancellor and Alexander Armstrong) make chaos at an English hotel. It's farce, it'll be quite amusing and it looks like the perfect sort of thing to switch-off to on Christmas Eve.

8. Carluccio And The Renaissance Cookbook, BBC Two, Thursday 27th December, 8pm
We see too little of Antonio Carluccio on the box these days, so it's a welcome return to the mushroom-picking Italian. He goes back to Italy with a Renaissance cookbook for company and follows in the footsteps of its 16th century author.

9. The Strictly Come Dancing Story, BBC One, Friday 28th December, 7pm
We all know that Strictly is the bees knees when it comes to primetime entertainment, but there was a time when it was rubbish. The original series of Come dancing dates back to 1948, and this one-off traces its story.

10. David Starkey's Monarchy: The Windsors, Channel 4, Wednesday 26th December. 8.30pm
I'm not sure what to think of David Starkey. He's a bit of a gob**** in my opinion, where as TV's other prominent historian, Simon Schama, is smooth and comforting. However, Starkey's passionate retrospective of the English monarchy is worth a watch, and now he's onto the final part of his journey... the Windsors.

WOW!!! Click on the picture and get a close up look at that kiss between the Doctor and Astrid!!! If only I could be her! Actually, I'd rather be Bethan Britton. :-D

It's great to see David is in the top two shows and Billie Piper is in the third spot. I wish I could see Billie play Sally Lockhart.

I'm beginning to think British TV is better than American TV. I certainly have been watching enough of their programming lately. Another plus is, they don't have a writers' strike. They have loads of new programming while we barely have anything new for the time being.

I found the article at TV Scoop. It was posted by paulhirons on December 21, 2007.

DAVID IN AUDIENCE WATCHING KYLIE MINOGUE

David was seen enjoying an entertaining evening at Jules Holland's traditional New Year's Eve Hootenanny show. Part of the entertainment was Kylie Minogue performing "Dance Tonight" in a duet with Paul McCartney . This show is scheduled to be shown on BBC2 as part of their December 31 countdown.

The above picture includes David, comedy actor Lenny Henry, John Simm and his wife Kate Magowan.

Doesn't David look nice! Great to see him with John Simm. Both are fantastic actors.

This is from an article dated December 21, 2007 at hellomagazine.com.

DAVID WILL CREEP YOU OUT IN "SECRET SMILE"

This UK movie was televised in 2005. Besides David, it stars Kate Ashfield.

The story is about what happens to Miranda (Kate Ashfield), her family and her friend after she splits up with her menacing boyfriend, Brendan (David).

Miranda is very dumb and naive about Brendan at first. As the story progresses, she wises up. This leads to a terror twist ending.

David is truly creepy, menacing and controlling in this. He plays the part wonderfully well. What can't this man do! He's an absolutely brilliant actor!!!

This movie turned out to be much better than I thought it would. Even if it had been the worst drivel, I would have watched it just to see David. That's because David is one of those actors who makes even the trashiest movie worth a look. Luckily, this is far from trashy. And, David is far different than you're used to seeing him. His portrayal will creep you out as you watch it.

DAVID IS THIRD COOLEST BRITISH MAN OF 2007

London, Dec 21 (ANI): Oasis star Noel Gallagher has topped the list of 100 Coolest British Men of 2007.

Second on the list, compiled by Zoo magazine, is Liverpool and England footballer Steven Gerrard.

Doctor Who’s David Tennant landed the third spot, while current James Bond, Daniel Craig, came fourth.

At number five was Soccer ace David Beckham, followed by Formula One star Lewis Hamilton at sixth position.

Comedians Simon Pegg and Ricky Gervais stood seventh and eight respectively.

Boxer and BBC Sports Personality of the Year Joe Calzaghe and Arctic Monkeys frontman Turner came ninth and tenth respectively.

“These inaugural awards have revealed some quite surprising results with Noel Gallagher, who has acquired something of an ‘elder statesman’ role, topping the poll,” the Daily Snack quoted Ben Todd, Zoo editor, as saying.

It shows that he is someone young people today strive to be like - perhaps even more so than when Oasis dominated the charts a decade ago, he added.

The list also included Sir Paul McCartney at the 55 th spot and Sir Mick Jagger at 73rd.

Prince Harry made to the list at number 37 while Simon Cowell was a late entrant at number 98.

The Top Ten Coolest British Men of 2007:

Noel Gallagher

Steven Gerrard

David Tennant

Daniel Craig

David Beckham

Lewis Hamilton

Simon Pegg

Ricky Gervais

Joe Calzaghe

Alex Turner

I found this article at Thaindian News.

I googled Noel Gallagher and Steven Gerrard to look at their pictures and can't see why they beat out David. But, of course, I know nothing else about them. All I know is, David is at the top of my list of Coolest British Men of 2007.

DAVID TENNANT DISCUSSES KYLIE KISS

Thursday, December 20 2007, 16:02 GMT
By Ben Rawson-Jones, Cult Editor

David Tennant has joked about filming the widely reported kiss with Kylie Minogue for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special.

Addressing suggestions that he cheekily forgot his lines during the snogging scene in a bid to have more retakes of the kiss, the actor told the Daily Record: "I am very professional in all things - I just go and the director tells me to stop. There were a lot of things wrong that day - it was nothing to do with me."

Tennant then rhetorically quipped: "If you had Kylie on the show, would you have her kiss The Doctor?"

The time-travelling drama's producer Phil Collinson also shed more light on the on-screen relationship: "There's great chemistry... Kylie's character [Astrid] and The Doctor bond quickly in a slightly flirty way."

I found this article on Digital Spy.

I'm so jealous of Kylie. She's so lucky there were a lot of retakes!!!

I've GOT to find this episode somewhere online after Christmas. I don't think I could stand to wait till the US gets this.

ONLY HUMAN BBC PILOT STARRING DAVID

I don't have much information about this other than it wasn't picked up as a regular show. I can understand this not getting past the pilot stage. David's good, as always, but the whole story doesn't seem to quite work for a weekly TV show. It's much more suitable as a movie. I wonder when it was made.

One thing it does do quite nicely is show off David's legs. :-D

I'VE NO PLANS TO QUIT, SAYS TENNANT

Doctor Who star David Tennant has denied rumours he is planning to quit the show next year.
The star dismissed claims about his departure as "a load of old nonsense."

Questions arose about Tennant's future in the BBC1 series after new assistant Catherine Tate told the Jonathan Ross show she thought the next series of the would be Tennant's last.

He said: "Catherine Tate stitched me up good and proper. She goes on Jonathan Ross and makes up a load of old nonsense.

"Unbeknownst to me, she thinks I've made a decision - she'd clearly had too much coffee that morning.

"She said I was leaving, which was a decision I haven't made yet, maybe she's made it for me, but I'm going to keep people guessing for as long as possible.

"I'm doing four more specials and beyond that no one's asked me to make any decisions and I'm quite happy to be enigmatic for as long as possible."

Speaking at the premiere of the Doctor Who Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned, Tennant was still enthusiastic about starring in the hit BBC show.

"I think it's the most exciting thing you could possibly hope to see, I'm just glad that people seem to agree," he said.

"It's a very odd and slightly bewildering sort of thing to be in the middle of, but it's something that's very easy to be genuinely excited about, I really love it and even if I had nothing to do with it, I'd be looking forward to the Christmas special, so it's a privilege to be in the middle of it all.

I thought I'd include another article about David not quitting since this one has more quotes from him.

DAVID TENNANT TO STAY ON AS DOCTOR

David Tennant has denied rumours that he is to step down as Doctor Who at the end of the next series.

Comedienne Catherine Tate - set to join the show in 2008 as the Timelord's new companion - said in a radio interview that she believed the next series would be Tennant's last.

But speaking at the launch of the Christmas episode of the hit show, Tennant laughed off the speculation.

"Catherine Tate stitched me up good and proper," he said. "I started getting all these phone calls on Saturday lunchtime saying: 'Apparently you're leaving Doctor Who - Catherine Tate's just announced it on Radio 2'. Thanks Catherine!"

He told the BBC: "I said to her on Monday morning: 'Did you know you've caused a minor diplomatic incident?' She was completely oblivious that the phone had been ringing off the hook."

The Scottish actor confirmed he is to star in four Doctor Who specials in 2009 but had not been contacted about a new series in 2010.

"I'm doing four more specials and beyond that no one's asked me to make any decisions and I'm quite happy to be enigmatic for as long as possible," he said.

The Christmas Day episode, Voyage of the Damned, was screened before a celebrity audience at London's Science Museum yesterday.

Kylie Minogue stars as Astrid Peth, a waitress on the Titanic - and shares an onscreen kiss with the Doctor.

Doctor Who writer and executive producer Russell T Davies - who resurrected the show in 2005 - said the former Neighbours star was keen to return to acting.

"She did this because I think that's the way her thoughts are heading. She's missed it and fancied that discipline. I'd cast her again like that," he said.

I knew he wasn't plannng on leaving. I figured this was all a bunch of speculation. Now that we've heard the truth from the Doctor himself, all the media circus concerning this should end.

Poor David must have been deluged with all those phone calls. Catherine Tate needs to be very, very careful about how she phrases what she says. I don't think she meant to cause an uproar like this. She probably wasn't thinking about how rabid the "Doctor Who"/ David Tennant fans can be.

DOCTOR WHO TAKES ON THE STIG IN TOP GEAR RACING CHALLENGE

Doctor Who star David Tennant has swapped his time-travelling Tardis for a less speedy mode of travel.

Actor Tennant has exchanged criss-crossing the universe for racing around a track as the latest star to take part in Top Gear's celebrity speed contest, Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.

The 36-year-old, seen here with the show's star, the mysterious racing driver known as The Stig, was challenged to race around the track in a Chevrolet Lacetti on the BBC show in the fastest time possible.

But will he be faster than his former co-star, 24-year-old Billie Piper who completed the task in an impressive one minute 48 seconds?

The results will be revealed in the show which is broadcast Sunday on BBC2 at 8pm.

This sounds like this will be a lot of fun to watch. I love "Top Gear" anyhow. And, we get to see David and Richard Hammond together! How good can that be!

I can't stand it that I have to wait to see this since I'm in the US. I swear, if I could, I'd move to the UK. The Brits are so blessed to be able to be in the same country as David.

The rest of this article mentions the talk about David leaving Doctor Who, which has not been commented on by the BBC. So far, I haven't put much stock in this talk. It seems like talk of him quitting comes up every year. Even though Catetherine Tate said he might quit, that doesn't mean David will definitely quit at that time. Time will tell.

DAVID IS A HOT GEEK

According to www.stuff.co.nz:

"When New Woman magazine surveyed 10,000 women last year to find the world's sexiest man, the latest Doctor Who, David Tennant, outranked Justin Timberlake, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. The weedy Tennant may demur, describing himself as "the least sexy man on the planet", but even Kylie's spending quality time with the Doctor this Christmas."

I don't think he's a geek, but I DO think he's HOT!!!

What I would give to spend quality time with David this Christmas.

TENNANT'S SPECIAL GIG - THE DAILY RECORD

Dec 15 2007 Beverley Lyons And Laura Sutherland

David Tennant had a ball during the Hootenanny recording.

The Scots actor was spotted rocking along to his favourite band, the Kaiser Chiefs.

And defying a ban on mobiles, David, who plays Doctor Who, filmed the band and even sang along into his phone's microphone.

He watched the show with John Simm, the man tipped to replace him as the Time Lord.

And producers had the pair perfectly poised to step into the Tardis, which they had brought into the BBC studio for the evening's filming.

David danced in time to the Scottish pipe band and then took time to share a drink or two with Kaiser frontman Ricky Wilson's family.

It sounds like it was a fun time had by all. How I wish I could have been there to see both the Doctor and the Master.

By the way, I don't think John Simm is going to be number 11. I'd like to see them explain how the 11th Doctor would look exactly like the Master. It just doesn't make sense to me. But, I suppose, anything can happen in science fiction.

BBC NEWS | ENTERTAINMENT | TENNANT 'IS LEAVING DOCTOR WHO'

Catherine Tate has suggested that the next series of Doctor Who could be the last for actor David Tennant.

The comedian, speaking on Radio 2's Jonathan Ross programme, said: "I think it's maybe David's last series."

The BBC refused to comment on Mr Tennant's future as the show's star.

Tate, who first appeared in the 2006 Christmas special, is to return as the doctor's assistant, Donna, for the entire run of the fourth series.

She will also be joined for several episodes by the doctor's former companion Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman.

When pressed on whether Tennant would return to play the timelord in special Dr Who shows in future, Tate replied: "Possibly."

The comedian also confirmed that the forthcoming series would be her last.

Tate made her Doctor Who debut last year as a runaway bride who found herself transported into the Tardis as she prepared for her wedding on Christmas Eve.

The episode attracted an audience of 9.4 million when it was screened on BBC One on Christmas Day.

This year's Christmas special, starring Kylie Minogue, is due to be screened at 1850 GMT on 25 December.

Speaking to Doctor Who magazine, the pop star said appearing in the show was "like stepping back in time".

"I really felt at home being back in the world of TV," she added. "I've definitely got the acting bug again!"

If David leaves, I'll be so broken-hearted. He's so wonderful as the Doctor. Of course, he can't play the part forever. I'll just have to look forward to all his future projects.

DROOL OVER DAVID'S SNACKING SCOTTISH DETECTIVE IN "BLACKPOOL"

I don't know how to classify this six part 2004 UK TV series. It's a crime drama with a love story that breaks out into singing and dancing and it's TOTALLY absorbing. I've never seen anything else quite like it.

The main reason I watched this is because one of the stars is the wonderful David Tennant, of course. He plays Scottish (Yippee! We get to hear his Scottish accent!)DI Peter Carlisle, investigating the murder of a young man whose body is found in an arcade in Blackpool, England. While investigating, Carlisle falls in love with Natalie, the wife of his main suspect. That lucky woman!

Natalie is played by the lovely Sarah Parish. Natalie is a very good wife and mother who is taken for granted by her husband, Ripley. She is a shy and lonely woman who is frustrated with her life. It's interesting to watch Natalie's conflict when she falls in love with Peter and has trouble trying to do what is morally right and stay with her husband, but be so drawn to Peter. God knows I wouldn't be able to resist David....er Peter.

Ripley Holden is played by the excellent David Morrissey. Ripley is a slime ball who cheats on his wife and does numerous illegal things so he can achieve his dream of making his newly opened arcade into a casino. The casino dream seems to be more important to him than his family. Ripley even looks like the kind of guy who would commit murder.

The singing and dancing scenes are totally different than anything I've seen in any other series or movie. The actors sing along with a song as it is playing. The series opens with "Viva Las Vegas" sung by Elvis Presley with Ripley singing along, as well as other people singing along, signifying the opening of Ripley's arcade. Some other songs are: "These Boots Were Made for Walking" sung by Nancy Sinatra, "The Gambler" sung by Kenny Rogers, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" sung by The Clash, and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" sung by Queen. Even though the actors are not professional singers and dancers, the whole concept works. And, David has a pretty good voice!

The most romantic of these musical scenes takes place during a date between Peter and Natalie. The song is "Should I Stay" sung by Gabrielle. Peter starts singing it to Natalie, then she sings back to him. They end up dancing together as they sing in a dream sequence. If only I could have David...er Peter sing to me like that.

One dance is notable in the fact that David messes up about two-thirds through the song. The song is "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" by The Smiths. David sways the opposite way that everyone else is swaying then gets back in sync with them pretty quickly for the rest of the song. He really does pretty good at the dancing, though.

The best parts of this series (besides the love scenes between David...er Peter and Natalie) is watching all the very sexy snacking done by David. I never knew I could be so jealous of an ice cream cone until I saw David lick one. He makes snacking seem like a sex act!!!

Unfortunately, this series is not available on DVD for the USA. BBC America has shown it as "Viva Blackpool" but it has some scenes cut out of it. So, the only way Americans can see this in its entirety is on YouTube.

I highly recommend "Blackpool" whether you're a rabid David Tennant fan, like me, or not. It's so totally entertaining you'll have a heard time tearing yourself away from your computer. And, if you're a David Tennant fan, you'll have to clean the drool off your keyboard. I GUARANTEE IT!!!

It debuts Sunday, December 16, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern time. It will also be shown at various times from December 19 through January 13.

Why can't I have enough money to be able to get HBO? :-(

IS IT MCDONALD OR MACDONALD?

I've seen David's birth name written both ways. On "Who Do You Think You Are?", his family name is shown on the family tree as McDonald. Paisley Grammar School has the spelling as MacDonald in the Grammarian. So, which spelling is right?

I used McDonald in my facts about David because I thought "Who Do You Think You Are?" would have their facts straight. It seems more likely the Grammarian misspelled his name. I could be wrong, but I can't imagine a TV show about genealogy getting the spelling wrong. Anyone dealing in genealogy tends to be very precise about the spelling of names. Also, David and his family would most likely make sure the spelling was correct before it aired.

If anyone knows more about the spelling, let me know.

DAVID IS A RISING STAR IN PAISLEY GRAMMAR SCHOOL'S "THE GRAMMARIAN" IN 1988

Take an interesting look back at a younger David in 1988. This is the oldest article I've seen about him. It tells about him studying acting, dancing, singing and fencing. It also mentions that he would like to play the Doctor, but the reason he wants to play him is kind of bizarre. Click on the picture to enlarge it so you can read it.

I found this at david-tennant.com.

DAVID AND CATHERINE TATE IN COMIC RELIEF SKETCH

video

David Tennant is Catherine Tate's new English teacher in a sketch performed for Comic Relief 2007 broadcast on Red Nose Day, March 16.

I love this sketch! It was recently named Scotland's greatest comedy moment. Catherine Tate is hilarious. Hearing David's Scottish accent is such a plus!

FALL IN LOVE WITH DAVID IN 'CASANOVA'

This mini-series was originally shown in the UK in 2005. It was shown in three hour long parts. It stars the wonderful Peter O'Toole as the older Giacomo Casanova telling the story of his life, as shown in flashbacks, with David Tennant playing the younger Casanova. I don't know how much liberty the writer, Russell T. Davies, took with the story that's generally told, but who cares! It's a wonderful story!!!

This is not just the story of Casanova's sexcapades. It's also the story of his yearning and love for a woman who manages to be just out of his reach. It is told with both angst and a sense of humor. There are beautiful costumes and fantastic scenery as a backdrop to this story.

Even though we see Casanova having sex with a number of women, there isn't much nudity. Almost all of it is implied and nicely covered up by sheets and blankets and camera angles. (Darn it!) The only real nudity is when we see David naked from the back from rather far away. This scene is done very quickly, with a lot of shadowing, is very artistic and oh so sexy. I just wish it could be a bit closer up and last a bit longer. (I'm so bad.)

I can't say enough about how good David is. He is excellent in every single scene. It doesn't matter whether it's angst filled or funny. In the angst filled scenes, he has the most expressive eyes that pour out the loss he feels when he can't have the woman he loves. During the lighter moments, he has fantastic timing.....as seen when he's confessing to a priest (THE FUNNIEST SCENE OF THE WHOLE PRODUCTION!!!).

video

This is both a fun and a heartbreaking story. You will need your box of kleenex for this one. Even though it will make you cry, it's well worth watching. And when you watch, you will fall in love with David Tennant.

DAVID TO BE IN "LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST" WHILE IN "HAMLET"

David is going to play Berowne in "Love's Labour's Lost" next year while he is doing "Hamlet". According to the article, David had told a friend of his that he would really like to go to the Royal Shakespeare Company to play both of the parts. David was offered those parts as a result of that conversation.

I thought David was really busy with "Hamlet", but never realized how super busy October and November were for him until I saw this article. According to the schedule, there are some days he's in one play earlier in the day and in the other play later in the day. I wonder if an understudy is standing in for him on some of the double play days.

I am so jealous of all the people who are going to get to see him in these plays. :-(

Here is the schedule for "Love's Labour's Lost".

TENNANT SPOTTED DATING TELEVISION ASSISTANT

Sunday, November 25 2007, 22:22 GMT
By Dave West

David Tennant has been spotted apparently dating a young blonde woman who works as an assistant on Doctor Who.

Bethan Britton was seen emerging from the actor's Cardiff apartment, wearing his pyjamas, at 2am on Wednesday, The People reports. Tennant apparently stood in the doorway while she put a parking permit on her car and returned to him.

The report says Tennant met Britton on set at BBC South Wales, where she is a contracts assistant, earlier this year.

They were also seen together at a pub in the Cardiff area last week. An onlooker commented: "They sneaked in and sat in a corner, chatting quietly.

"They kept a low profile but were all over each other, holding hands and giggling like naughty teenagers. They make a lovely couple."

A source added of the relationship: "David has had relationships with actresses but their filming commitments always make it very hard. He loves the fact that Bethan has got a normal job but is still in the TV industry."

Tennant split up with actress Sophia Myles last month.

I guess this takes him out of the most eligible list. That was a short lived title. LOL

I think it's lovely if this works out for him. It seems like it may be better for him to be involved with a girl who's not an actess. Plus, since she's involved in the TV industry, she probably has a better understanding of what goes on in actors' lives involving their schedules, publicity, fans, etc.

I've read that some people have painted him as somewhat of a cad for 'dumping' Sophia Myles in a phone call. My take on it is, she left him behind for Hollywood. What else was he to do? Was he supposed to wait for her to decide to come back for him? Was he supposed to fly to the US to break it off even though she wasn't flying to the UK to see him? He's a single man who most likely wants someone he can be close with. He's 36 and, I suspect, getting to the age where he may want to consider marriage. I hope this is the girl for him.

No matter what anyone thinks of this development in his life, it is HIS life. He knows what he wants and needs. What the fans want for him is of no consequence. The best thing fans can do is be happy for him. Being happy for him is all I can do, especially since I'm never going to get my chance with him. :-p

SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY - ELIGIBLES: MEN TOP 50 2007 - 1 DAVID TENNANT

1 David Tennant

Actor
, 36

Lives Cardiff and London

Who is he? The boy from Bathgate has come a long way from those early days playing a transsexual in Rab C Nesbitt. Now he's the most popular Time Lord ever (according to Doctor Who Magazine). But he's no one-trick pony. Along the way he has played the world's greatest lover (Casanova), a dark wizard (Barty Crouch Jr in Harry Potter) and is due to take on the tortured prince of Denmark in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Hamlet next year.

Past girlfriends include Anne-Marie Duff, the Shameless star, who is now married to James McAvoy, and he is reported to have recently split from actress Sophia Myles, whom he met when she appeared with him in the Doctor Who episode The Girl in the Fireplace. They started dating in October 2005 but David is said to have ended the relationship, blaming the lack of time they were able to spend together following Sophia's move to Los Angeles.

Plus The 6ft 1in star is gorgeous, yet modest - describing himself as "the least sexy man on the planet" - and refreshingly down to earth for one so famous. "Before I became known and I was in the company of somebody who was famous, I always imagined that it would give you great self-confidence," he says. "But I've discovered that the opposite is true. It does make you self-conscious and it can be a bit frightening at times. But I'm not complaining. I'm not an idiot. I knew what I was taking on."

Minus If his Time Lord abilities are real, there's always a chance he could metamorphose into the former Doctor Who/Worzel Gummidge actor Jon Pertwee.

Do Keep a low profile - he is notoriously private. "No one teaches you how to deal with all that sort of stuff," he has said of the interest in his private life. "You have to decide for yourself where the line will be drawn. It's about your own personal integrity. You just have to figure it out as you go along."

Don't Make any Skoda jokes. David drives one - and has twice been stopped for speeding in it.

This article was published by Scotland on Sunday on November 18, 2007.

I think it makes him all that much more sexy when describes himself as "the least sexy man on the planet".

Wow! David's going to be a busy lad for four months. I'm hoping eventually there's a film production of "Hamlet" with David in it. That's the only way I'm ever going to be able to see him in this part. How I wish I lived in the UK or had the money to take a trip there. I'd love to see David in this.

TAKE A LOOK AT DAVID'S FAMILY TREE ON "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE"

This is a very interesting show. You learn about David's ancestors and you learn a little Scottish and Irish history. While watching this I found it particularly touching when he commented about Catherine McNiven walking around the hilly land on Mull with wee ones pulling at her skirts while there's another one in her belly. He really seems to be a sensitive man. It just makes me all that much more fond of him. I'm not fond of the beard, though. He looks much better clean shaven. He had the beard for his excellent performance in "Recovery".
